We recently supported an individual in our community with a new washing machine after their support worker had exhausted all avenues looking for support from social care, council welfare funding, charities and community support groups to no avail. The individual, with mobility issues, had been washing their laundry in the bath for over a year due to having no funds and struggling with just the basics of utility bills and food. We gladly helped with food parcels and arranged extras on an order with Hotpoint to install and recycle the broken washer. We were very disappointed to be told they refused to install, or recycle on arrival for “hygiene” reasons and just left it in the doorway. Shame on you Hotpoint UK. Many frantic phone calls made and thank you so so much to Andrew Skirrow plumbing in Clifford who came to the rescue the next day and completed the job. Andrew went above and beyond to get the job done at a reasonable price and also helped sort another job in the home in his own time. Needless to say, we got a refund from Hotpoint with no apology and no compassion. There is a lot to be said for keeping it local and supporting our community
